increasing a value by 1 on insert

Hi,

I have an insert page built using insert wizard and all works fine. Now i need to increase a value in my sql table by one on insert.

Is there a simple way to accomplish this?

Thanks, Paul.

Hi Paul,

The answer to this depends on the type of value you want to increase by 1. For example, if its a number that you need to increase by a value of 1 each time a record is inserted (like an ID field) then you can set the field to be an auto-incrementing type in the database.

Can you provide a bit more information on what the value is that you need to increase each time? Is the value to be increased in the same table as the record that's being inserted?? etc.

Ian,

Thank you for responding.
I have managed to resolve this with some nifty sql in my recordset and then placing it in the correct sequence in my page.

Everything appears to be calculating ok now.

Paul.
