Error Starting Floater help

Error Starting Floater help

I just upgraded Security Assist to version 2. I am relatively new to the Super Suite, but have set up data pages with the help of Data Assist, and great support from Jason. I created my own SQL table for login purposes with 4 fields (user_id, name, email & password) I input the info into the tables for the users, and then ran Security Assist 'Create Security Pages'. After choosing 'new from blank', I selected the table that I had created, and assigned the fields to the Database Settings. I then went to the 'Manage Pages tab and deleted all pages except the Log In and Log Out pages. I just want a very simple form for pre-determined users that already have their passwords set for the admin data pages on the site. After setting the min and max characters, I clicked OK, and then saved the preset, clicked OK again and received this error:

"Error starting floater:
Process type "undefined" not found"

I'm sure I've missed something fundamental here, but don't have much experience yet with this process, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Doug

did you have security assist 1 installed previously?

if so, did you uninstall V1 before installing V2?

you should always uninstall the previous version from the extension manager before installing a newer version.

try delete the Dreamweaver Cache file from the users configuration folder:
common_installation_issues.pdf

then uninstall security assist 2 from the extension manager and reinstall it.

Removing Previous Extension

I did remove Security Assist Version 1 with the Extensions Manager before I installed the newer version. I had not used the original version 1 at all. I'll follow your instruction though, and get back to you. Thanks..

No Change

Hi Jason
The same error message came back. I followed your instructions, removing the cache file then the extension, then reinstalling. Thanks.

Would it help if I removed the Cookies Toolkit (Version 3.1.3) that was installed with the initial Super Suite extensions, and I assume a part of, or at least included with the first version of Security Assist?
.. or is this the same version that comes with Security Assist 2?

Moving Forward, Slowly

Hi David
I have been able to move forward slowly. I couldn't wait any longer for an engineer's response to my support ticket to help out, and I'm sure they are busy, so I basically started from scratch with the portion of the website that needed the database function pages. I kept the rest separate. (I had already completed most of my client's site, with the exception of the support section) There was most likely some corrupt or missing data on a page somewhere in one of my files when I encountered the problem, possibly from a crash/freeze of Security Assist 2 when I first implemented it, but rebuilding allowed Security Assist 2 to work properly. I decided to allow Security Assist 2 to create my SQL table from the Simple Registration template, and then just disabled or deleted the fields or pages that I did not want, within the Wizard. I kept the registration page, log in, and log out. I then registered the users myself through the registration page, so only the few admin support staff would have access to editing of the database. I was able to create a separate admin folder and public folder for the Data Assist pages and then apply separate rules through Security Assist 2 to the admin and public pages.

I'm learning slowly, and have had help from Jason where there was an apparent solution. I have had some progress using the tutorials, but many of my specific queries seem to be difficult at times to find answers for, or at least direction, so I will continue to use the forum resource and keep asking questions. When I have understood the procedure for setting up the elements in both Data Assist and Security Assist, they are amazing time savers, or at least will be :) I noticed that you are a beta tester, so you will probably have much more knowledge and experience in general with the WA extensions, so forgive me if I have blabbered on here.

Hope that helps a little.. now I have to figure out how to create more complex search pages with multiple keywords..

Thanks Doug. I appreciate it. Unfortunately, I already have my tables setup. :( Have seen any resolution on your side from the support team?
