Data Assist - Too Many Fields Defined

Data Assist - Too Many Fields Defined

Hi,

I am getting the following error whenever I try to update or insert a file into an existing Access Database.

I used a different form insert for people to fill out and submit and it seems to work great but when I create the Admin features using Data Assist 2.08 I get the following:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '8007000e'

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too many fields defined.

/2008Redesign/administrator/GeneralTitleInfo_Update.asp, line 57

Line 57 is: MM_editCMD.Execute()

I do have a very complex form that uses approximately 161 fields.

Is there a way to make this work?

I am using DreamWeaver CS 5
ASP model

It is a Microsoft Access file because, while it will be used, it probably won't get more than 200 records a year.

Any help would be appreciated.

this is a limitation to the microsoft Jet database engine.

The microsoft Jet database engine limits the number of output fields that a query can have to 255 columns. Similar to an access table, a query can have no more than 255 columns.

Note on UPDATE queries:
Note also that as the microsoft Jet database engine iterates through the records in an UPDATE query, it creates a field for the original value and a field for the updated value. When more than 127 fields are selected, it reaches the 255 field limit of a query.

Convert to SQL?

Hello,
If I convert to SQL would that solve the issue?

Yes, this issue is not present using an MSSQL database
