Background on PNG thumbnails are black - not solved by new helperphp.php

Hello,

I am noticing that my transparent backgrounds on my PNGs are not staying transparent as per the fix. I have replaced "HelperPHP.php" in the config folder as per the instructions and also renamed and replaced "helperphp.php" in the "webassist/file_manipulation/" folder on the site in question (and uploaded the file) **This was not mentioned in the hotfix readme notes BTW.

I get a transparent image on the main image, but all of my thumbnails have black backgrounds. Is this a known issue?

In the upload server behaivor, make sure you have checked the Web Images only box and set the format to PNG.

There is no way to have this behaviour work with the "Keep existing format" setting?

Even worse

Just tested those settings, and it makes things even worse.

I really don't want to change compression or file type.. just to have my PNG thumbnails not have black rather than transparent backgrounds...

Also having this problem...

I'm also experiencing this issue.

I need my client to be able to upload .gif, .jpg, or .png (with transparent backgrounds) images that are resized to 125px widths to fit the output table.

If I check "Web Images Only" on the first step, I am able to activate the resize image option. This is when I get the black backgrounds on .png files.

If I clear the checkbox on "Web Images Only" I get the proper transparent backgrounds but the resize image options are not available to me.

I'd appreciate any help with this as well, please...

Hi pete,

I just got off a support call WA.. the results of which was a new helperphp.php file. I am not sure if WA has updated the 'fixed' file that is in the transparent PNG background sticky in this forum or not, so I have attached the new one.

It will need go into the same place as the one listed in the sticky about PNGs and transparent backgrounds in this forum. It will also need to go into your "SITE_FOLDER/webassist/file_manipulation/" folder and be uploaded to your webserver.

Hope this helps.

Hi Andrew,
That was a very quick response - or my request was timely.

Regardless, the attached file is exactly what was required. All the problems I listed above are no longer an issue.

It looks like they tweaked line 825 and removed a $transparency variable...

Thank you for your help, Andrew!
Pete
