Important Pre-purchase Information Lacking

I watched the video and read every page I could find regarding PowerMessenger but could not find detailed information on the following:

1. How does the opt-in process work (besides filling in a subscription form and clicking submit)? Is there a validation/confirmation step?

2. What about opt-outs? how are they handled? Is there an opt-out link in the email? Is there a report?

3. What about bounced / undelivered mail? How are they tracked, processed and reported?

4. Is there a distinction between bad, undeliverable email and good addresses but full mailboxes? Is there automatic removal from the mailing list?

Having more detail will help me decide if this product will be useful.

Thanks.

1) You can create as many opt in email groups as you want from the admin. Then it will give you the html code to create a "subscribe" button that you can place anywhere on your site, on a blog, or anywhere really you want to. When someone clicks the button they will be taken through the registration process and added to that mailing group that you can then use for sending emails.

2) You can add opt out options to the email that you send with a token... it is included in many of the pre-canned templates. There is also a checkbox that will appear on the users profile page that they can use to unsubscribe at any time.

3) You can set the return address for bounced emails, but they are not tracked or reported on by the system.

4) There is not a distinction between the type of bounced emails nor is there an automatic removal.

By default, I am seeing a new email address being put in all "Audiences". Then the filtering seems based on the new users default fields but there is not any apparent separation for email lists?

Where is this determined?

For instance, multiple lists of email accounts used for various reasons (prospective customer, current customers, etc...)

Does the default install and table fields not expect this and I need to start hacking code from the start?

Everything looks well thought out so far so I expect it's an oversight on my part.

Please advise,

Steve

You can create as many opt in groups as you want from the audience page.

Once an opt in group is created it will give you the html button code to allow people to opt in. We'll try to get an updated tutorial or video to highlight how that works.

I don't see it...

I added a new "Group" then went to the users_update.php page and still see only two types of Access Groups (Admin or User)

I want to be able to have more than one list of users that get specific campaigns.

I believe you are using the term Audience as the user group. But when you add a new user via the pages available in the admin area (/admin_pm/users_registration.php) there is no option to distinguish which "Audience" they go into.

Please advise on if having multiple user groups that receive different mailings is part of the intended functionality.

Steve

The audience groups are for opt in newsletter email groups. If you want to create a new user group you would just update the pm1_usergroups table and add whatever groups you would want.

powermessenger

Is it possible to use powermessenger for sending email automatically on a specific date? E.g. Send email to specific members (member level = 3) every 7 days or once a month. Like autoresponder (Aweber).

Emails must be initiated by clicking the send button in the current version and cannot be scheduled.

Sending Servers

Hi,
In PowerMessenger, do all sent emails use my IAP (internet access provider) or do they use the servers of the hosting ?
Is the product done for a maximum number of sending messages (by sending or by month) ?
What if I want to make huge mailings (100.000 by month for example) ?
Regards

PowerMessenger can use any SMTP server that is configured to accept and send emails from your php site. This can be your IASP, Hosting provider, or a separately configured SMTP server on your localhost or elsewhere.

Huge mailings are possible as long as you don't exceed any limitations set by your SMTP server.
