tax calculations for 2 states

i have a cart that must charge 7.5% sales tax for the state of florida and must charge 8% sales tax for the state of alabama.

in the eCart object i was able to set a sales tax for 7.5% and charge sales tax on shipping.
but not sure how the cart would know a shopper was from florida.
and did not know how to add a different tax for someone shipping to alabama?
(i did this in the ecart object under the tax tab) i was not able the get the checkout wizard to add a sales tax rule.

thanks for your help

If you look on the confirm page you should be able to find a session variable being set equal to the value of the state selected on the checkout page.

You can use that session variable name when you go into the cart object tax tab.

Create two separate tax rules
Condition: Based on session variable value
Amount: based on subtotal (where you can multiply times the tax rate)

Thanks Ray

that was the way to do it.
I checked the box tax shipping which is required in Florida.
Then based the variable, eCartCheckoutForm_state_province == FL
cart taxable total times 0.07500
and based the variable, eCartCheckoutForm_state_province == AL
cart subtotal times 0.0800

thanks for your help,
