data assist Inserting Categories

Hello

I have search the forum and can not found what I am looking for. can someone please direct me. thanks.

1. In the powerstore we have a categories page where you can insert categories on the back end side. In the data assist tutorial we can insert only record (cd, mp3) Data were inserted through phpmyadmin(in the database) but in powerstore categories can be added through category page on the website. I want to have multiple categories and each category will have multiple records.

2. I have bought "site import" and the first page I wanted to download is your powerstore to see how you build it so that I can use data assist with security assist to replicate it. did not work for me.

thank you for your time.

1) You would need to use data assist to create the Products insert page where you can assign the product to the category.

Run the data assist wizard, and select the products table. Set category column to be a menu, click the lightning bolt next to the menu and select the categories table. Set the category ID to be used as the value, and the Category name to be used as the label.

2) Site Import is not able to download the source code of site files, it will only download the browser content, the HTML that is generated by the PHP processor and sent to the client browser. If you want to study the PHP code of the power store pages, you will need to buy power store

DataAssist and eCart are two of the tools that where used to create Power Store.

Security Assist, Universal Email, Framework builder, Form Toolkit, Dynamic Web Charts and other tools where also used. Also, there is a lot of hand coding used.

Thanks so much Jason.
1. ""You would need to use data assist to create the Products insert page where you can assign the product to the category.

I have used data assist wizard to create the public and admin files.

The insert page gives me this error messages:
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at C:\xampp\htdocs\topnotch\products_Insert.php:87) in C:\xampp\htdocs\topnotch\webassist\file_manipulation\helperphp.php on line 70
Field 'ProductWeight' doesn't have a default value

1. In the process of creating the pages, I have deleted the ProductWeight, and on line 70 of my insert page I did not see anything I can change (do not know much about php). Can someone help me please found what is wrong?

I have attached the insert page and loaded the test website (www.thelightfilmproduction.com)

2 In admin I have created the insert page where I can insert the product, should I create another insert page using the admin so that I can insert the products categories ( or I get your explanation wrong)

PowerStore
I have the data assist, ecart, security assist. I think you guy need to setup an option for us to trade in what we have to get a new suitable product for what is best for us. In the beginning we don’t know that we need super suite ( we started buying them one by one ) now we need powerstore and we have data assist, ecart, security assist, how can I justify again that purchase (when I supposed to be the person who knows in front of my boss).

Thanks anyway for your time and for your help.

for the error; Field 'ProductWeight' doesn't have a default value

In the database, edit the products table, either assign a default value, or set the ProductWeight column to allow NULL Values.

for the headers already sent error, change lines 85 - 87:

php:
?>

<?php?>
<?php

to:

php:
?>

<?php

see the following post for more details on that error:
showthread.php?t=19285

For the product categories, lets back up a moment.
You assign the product to a category on the products insert page

read my initial response about that again:

  1) You would need to use data assist to create the Products insert page where you can assign the product to the category.

Run the data assist wizard, and select the products table. Set category column to be a menu, click the lightning bolt next to the menu and select the categories table. Set the category ID to be used as the value, and the Category name to be used as the label.

re read this part:

  Set category column to be a menu, click the lightning bolt next to the menu and select the categories table. Set the category ID to be used as the value, and the Category name to be used as the label.

this will add a select list to the products insert page that will allow you to select the category that the product belongs to.

To be able to add other categories, you will need to re run the data assist wizard for the categories table, but that is not the same as assigning the product to a category.

data assist Inserting Categories

Thank you Jason for your help and time.

I am sorry, I think I confused you with technical terms I used to ask my question.

(quote: To be able to add other categories, you will need to re run the data assist wizard for the categories table, but that is not the same as assigning the product to a category)

All I need to do is ADD OTHER CATEGORIES. (that's how you did it in powerstore)

my mistake, I used a lot of words to confused you. I will run the wizard again and let you know what happen.

again thank you for your time.
