Data Assist Crashing

Data Assist Crashing

Hello,

I purchased Data Assist and it has been crashing since day one. Sometimes it will allow me to get through the wizard, other times it crashed randomly. It tried the %appdata% search to remove the file WinFileCache.dat but there is no such file in the Dreamweaver directory.

I also uninstalled a re-installed the extension but still the same problem. Any thoughts on how to fix the issue?

Thank you,

Frank Schiebler

Are you using a remote testing server? or a local one?

Using a remote testing server can cause the type of crashing you describe. With a remote testing server, the connection to the server can get lost by Dreamweaver. Data Assist will need to connect to the server while the pages are being created to get information about the table the pages are being created for.

it is recommended that you have a local testing server installed rather than use the remote server.

see the learning resources page for details on setting up a local testing server:

Thanks for the tip.

I created everything up as described in the tutorials, but I can't seem to connect to the database that I set locally. I receive access denied for user root@localhost (using password: YES)

MySQL Error#: 1045

In MySQL Connections dialogue box I have the following:

Connection Name: data_build
MySQL server: localhost
user name: root
password: "what I set up"

When I hit the select database box is when I get the error.

I should mention that I can connect to the remote server using localhost and the associated user name and password, but not locally on my PC. Where am I going wrong?

Thanks,

Frank

In the site settings, have you changed the testing server URL Prefix to point to the local testing server?

By default the root MySQL user does not have a password set in xampp, unless you have set up extra security, try leaving the password blank.
