Question Regarding Comparison to PowerStore

I have received emails directly from some of you. Thank you for asking questions; they are great questions. I am going to start sharing your questions here as much as I can, in case others have the same questions.

Beta Tester Q:
Is this a replacement for Power Store? Is it the same thing only "totally done for you"? How different is it from PS?

A:
This is a store, already hosted – by DreamHost, who we have a partnership with. So there is no downloading, no installation and the eventual fee of $30/month (after the trial) covers your hosting as well. We began with the PowerStore technology, but we have spent 4 months in development so the features are not identical and because we have control over the hosted environment, we were able to enhance it that much more.

Your feedback, however, can directly impact future versions of PowerStore. What people like in this web application will influence PowerStore’s feature set – and possibly others in our product line.

I was planning to start a new topic like FAQ but this is also the right place to ask my questions I guess.

1-) Are you planning to introduce stand alone version of this application, maybe power store 5?

2-) What about non-english users? Is there any plans on to integrate the other language options?

1-) Are you planning to introduce stand alone version of this application, maybe power store 5?

PowerStore will most likely always be the closest thing we have to a standalone version of this CafeCommerce. This does not mean that PowerStore 5 will be the same as CafeCommerce at some point, but you will likely see features from CafeCommerce integrated into PowerStore.

The main reason that you PowerStore can't ever be an identical standalone version of CafeCommerce, is because PowerStore has to account for a variety of hosting providers and database setups. We have a lot more flexibility with how we do things in CafeCommerce because we dont have to account for that.

2-) What about non-english users? Is there any plans on to integrate the other language options?

If the demand suggests it, we will work to integrate different languages into CafeCommerce. As it stands right now, the majority of the content can be edited to say what you like. So, someone could translate most of CafeCommerce into a different language if they wanted. However, this doesn't apply to the form fields, so there would still be some text that would be in English.

You can expect CafeCommerce to evolve pretty rapidly, and if demand indicates that there would be a lot of international users, we will jump on the opportunity to support them. We already support multiple currencies (USD, GBP, CAD, AUD, EUR).

Thanks for asking these questions.
