Add additional info to the items id array

Add additional info to the items id array

Hi, is there a way to ad a date, time and text field entry, to the items id'd array, in other words, each unique item in my cart will have a date time and text field entry which is inputted by the purchaser on the product details page which then submits to the cart and of course I need those array items in my orderdetails table?
Any ideas????

add columns to the eCart object to hold this information.

In the add to cart button behavior, set those new columns to be updatable from a text box.

to store the information in the order details table, you will need to add the columns to the table as well, then edit the eCart Store Order Details behavior that is applied to the confirm page, and bind the new columns in the order details table to the new columns you added to the eCart object.

I considered that, but I didn't need that info displayed on the cart display, so I worked out a new solution today.
What I ended up doing was since I'm not using the thumbnail and weight objects in the eCart display, I put my date/time post info into one variable and my text box post in another variable and 'hijacked' the thumbnail and weight objects to move them thru the scripts and then was able to capture the data for the orderdetails table.
Thanks for your input, talk to you in a bit.

In the cart display manager, on step 2, you can select cart columns to show in the cart display or remove columns.

new cart columns that you add do not need to be displayed in the cart page.

Got ya, I'll keep that in mind for the future but it was 2 in the morning when I was working on it, so i guess I was getting a little cross eyed.
It's doing what I need now and as they say if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Thanks again.
