upgrading from dreamweaver cs4 to cs5

Has anyone upgraded from cs4 to cs5 ? I have the super suite and I am wondering if I will have to reactivate, or download and reactivate the addon's if I upgrade from cs4 to cs5.

You can have both CS4 and CS5 installed on the computer at the same time.

after you install CS5, on first launch it will recognize the extensions you have installed in CS4 and ask if you want to import them. Though this simplifies the process, the import procedure is not very reliable. It is best practice to answer NO at this prompt and download / Install the extensions manually into the CS5 extension manager.

More importantly - have any of the irritating bugs that were not fixed in Dreamweaver CS4 been fixed (by Adobe) in CS5?

For instance the fact that DW CS4 always selects the directory below the one you choose in all of its browse functions...

That particular bug was introduced in Windows Vista SP2 and Windows 7, and yes, it has been corrected in Dreamweaver CS5.

I know that there are bugs that where fixed, but there could be others I am not aware of that weren't.

The question of what was or wasn't fixed (by Adobe) in DW CS5 would be better directed at Adobe then here.

I can say that unlike CS4, Adobe has released 3 updates to CS5 so far since it's launch.

Hi Jason,

I appreciate your answers, but my question was directed more to the users, as this is a General Discussion group.

I certainly understand that this is an Adobe issue and not a WA issue, I was just looking for a bit of user feedback from those that have used the CS5 software, before I waste more money on the Adobe product line.

Thanks.

where your question was posted as a reply to my last message in this thread, it seamed you where directing it to me rather than directing it to the other forum members.

Adobe has Dreamweaver CS5 available for trial download from their site.

the Trial Download is an un-crippled 30 day trial version.

you can give that a test run before making your decision to purchase it or not.

No worries Jason, I always value your answers, I was just hoping to hear from some everyday Adobe users. ;)

I'd prefer to find out from others how the new versions are before I 'infect' my system with the 30-day trial. :D
