nearest addresses

I purchased Pro Maps Google and have installed it.
It's a nice extension however, It falls a little short of what I'm trying to achieve.
I was wondering if Web Assist has a solution recipe or could assist me with the following:

When visiting my clients site, the visitor is going to enter their Zip Code (could be City or full address. But I'm trying to keep it simple)
After clicking Search, any addresses close to the entered Zip Code will appear on the page.
Clicking on each location, will display the Google Map.

I thought the Google Extension tool could help me accomplish this. I went through all the solution recipes. I could not find anything that would help accomplish displaying nearest addresses to the one the visitor enters.

Thank you for your help,
Danielle

No, zip code proximity searches are not supported by the Pro maps for Google extension.

This is more a function of how you query the data in your database, do a google search for:
sql zip code proximity

and you will find a number of resources on the web that talk about performing zip code proximity searches of your database.

Jason,

could this be added as a feature in a future release of this extension ?

Not sure, but if you would like it to be considered, post your feature request to the wish list forum.

I would definitely purchase that upgrade. I'm a novice at mySQL and PHP.

I found and reviewed several articles, these made the most sense to me:
phpsqlajax.html
phpsqlsearch.html

But I'm just not sure what part I need to do first. And What part I can leave out because I have the Pro Maps Google Extension. I'm getting lost with all the code.

I have approx 120 addresses in my Database. I do not know the Longitude or Latitude, I only have the street address, state, and zip codes. Do I need to geocode the addresses first?

Any advice/examples would be great.

Thanks,
Danielle

This is not a supported feature of pro maps for Google, I will not be able to help you in implementing this.
