Looks very interesting ...

Looks very interesting ...

If I used something such as WA's Css Menu or perhaps even something such as the Spry menus from Dreamweaver, how exactly does CMS Builder handle adding new pages to the menu?

Can the actual admin area be re-skinned to match the client website? If so, I believe you will have a new purchaser.

You would have to use the powercms template concept and create a recordset to loop over to handle the ability to add new pages to a menu... it isn't built into CMS builder in this version so it requires a little hand coding to create the correct recordset SQL just like powerCMS, but it is possible. (we have a functional example of this in powerstore and I've posted the necessary recordset sql in previous powercms threads)

The admin area can be completely re-skinned.

I have no idea what the PowerCMS Template Concept is. But from what I can figure out is that admins can set up new pages but they currently have no way to add them to the menu? So this product is currently only good to change static content that is already coded in to the website? What about news articles for example where you have a page with the news but want to list headlines and the first few lines of the article on the main page for example? No way to add/edit items to data grids such as sports statistics?

I was kinda really excited about this at first - but the more I read (without being able to try it - so its only based on info I can read here) the more limited this seems for an extension that costs almost as much as Dreamweaver itself?

Hopefully I am missing some info because this looks like a potentially good product like Framework Builder. Might have to wait a bit on this. :-(

There is a way to do it, but you have to create a recordset and a repeated region in dreamweaver it isn't part of the CMS Builder functionality. If you create the recordset and repeated region on the page, then the powerCMS admin can create new pages and entries.

But there is no way to tie it in with the CMS admin area? I would have to create another separate Admin area for adding stuff to the menus, or other dynamic data such as schedules and stuff. Unless it somehow works well with Data Assist as well.

Looks awesome for small 'mom and pop' type business or maybe individual non-profit organization where all they need is to change a bit of text here and there.

Looks like it has a lot of potential. I'll be watching the forums and site for updates and info to see if this product is developed further before purchasing.

Thanks and good luck with it. It has potential.

Yes, it would tie into the CMS admin area using the templates feature... the recorset would query and reference the powercms tables that are already managed through the admin.

You guys need to do up a video on how to use data assist in the admin for other types of data such as news articles. And show how all that would be tied in. Right now I see it as simply a text editor. A really good one, mind you .... but very limited on anything other than just text content.

Sell it to me, man! Need videos! ;-)

You can see functional examples in powerstore... where it has news articles, footer links, and menu links managed through the powercms admin.

It is very likely that we will concentrate on enhancing that functionality in the next update, including making it easier to use and adding more tutorials on the subject.

Ray, it would be great if you could get someone detailed to help with the installation bugs that some of us are having...

Thanks

Is there a video on this somewhere? I don't have PowerStore.

Good to see you guys are thinking of new features already.
