bookmark doesnt' work

The bookmark doesn't do anything in FF, in IE, I'm getting an error:

Permission denied, but my security settings are at Medium, like most people would have.

The javascript, bookmark solution found in a previous post doesn't work -- I'm getting a syntax error, and can't figure out why.
Again, I'm using strict DTD.
