What is the error?

I will need specifics on the exact error to be able to have any ideas on the cause.

Which validator are you using that is reporting the error? The W3C HTML Validator?

can you provide a link to the page with the problem.

Since your page is using the XHTML 1.0 strict document type, the code that adobe uses for embedding a flash object will not pass validation. Adobe does not use XHTML 1.0 strict compliant code for embedding flash objects.

This does not mean the flash will not work, it only means that it does not pass the recommendations of the XHTML 1.0 strict document type coding standards.

swf into header;

thank you jason - I'm an absolut novice and I guess that many people cry on your shoulder asking for help and take a lot of your time.
to the problem; you are right-it works, but is there a way to use swf as header without being non compliant?
with your answer please remember I'm a novice

change the doctype to use the HTML 4.01 transitional doctype.

go to modify -> page properties. On the Properties / Encoding tab, set the Doc Type to HTML 4.01
