extension not in insert menu

Hi,

The extension only appears on the icon menu bar in Dream Weaver, but is missing in the regular insert menu. This is in Vista 32 and Windows7 64.

Then the fact that there are only 7 icons to choose from is a bit disappointing. What about MySpace and YouTube?

And I can't find where I can store my self made/or other icons for local social media for example in Europe or other parts of the world.

The social media tools can be accessed from the Dreamweaver menu bar > WebAssist > Social Media

Perhaps you could specify which other local social media buttons you want, and submit those along with your other requirements in the 'Wish List' forum as a feature request for a future release.

If you want to add further button features straight away, perhaps you could use the tools available HERE

Hi Neilo,

Thanks for that! I expected this extension in the Web Assist insert menu not in the common Web Assist menu.

About the icons. Is it possible to import my own icons in the extension?

Cheers tone,

As far as I can work out, there is no native facility for importing your own icons in to the extension, but as I am not WA people, perhaps a more authoritative WA response will confirm or challenge that view, and clear it up!

I agree that for many, a YouTube button would be a major benefit to this extension, and I expect that the more people who request the feature via the feedback forms or wishlist areas, the more likely we are to see its inclusion in a new release.

With MySpace, I am less convinced, given the internal troubles that MySpace (which News Corp is desperately trying to off-load) are experiencing. Also, their recent maneuverings in order to link MySpace pages to FaceBook accounts are (according to gigaom) "a final sign of how completely it has surrendered to its former foe".

While MySpace still has the largest share of any social media networks in the US with 72 million monthly uniques larely, Im guessing, because of its music and media capabilities, its international appeal is increasingly outstripped by Facebook. My guess is that the company will be sold off for peanuts, and disappear altogether as FaceBook's capabilities and UI grow. More graphical info here.

But YouTube, yes definitely.

Thanks neilo.

In regard to adding icons, if you choose the icons option in the wizard, then you can overwrite those images in the webassist/social/icons folder. However you will also need to change the css in the webassist/social/wasocial.css file if you are planning to use icons that are bigger than 16x16.
