Simple Checkout - In House Processing & User Login for Wholesale Price

Simple Checkout - In House Processing & User Login for Wholesale Price

Hello,

I'm building a site where we want to review each order by hand to check inventory levels among other details manually before we process the order. In other words, we want to simply receive the users credit card information, not have it processed elsewhere. I am just running the checkout manager for the first time and it is asking for payment gateways, but has no option for none. Any suggestions on how to do this?

Also, at this point, I was considering adding capability for users to login - the primary reason for this is so that wholesale customers can buy at their specified prices. It is not a sweeping discounted amount through all products, but another price field in the database. Can anyone recommend a strategy on how best to implement this? I want the prices in my product tables to show up as wholesale prices when wholesale customers login.

Sincerely,
Vela

You can run through the wizard with authorize.net local checkout without express checkout. Then just remove the local checkout server behavior on the confirm page and update the redirect on the store cart details in database to go to the success page.

I wouldn't recommend storing credit card information since it is a real security concern keeping private data like that on record. Maybe just take their contact information and call them for credit card information after you have checked inventory and are ready to process it. We don't offer a secure way of storing and using credit cards offline like that.

Hi Ray,

Thanks! Good notes. I will give it a go. Did you see the second part of my question, about the wholesale user login? I wanted to somehow have my product prices change to a different price field (the wholesale price) when specified wholesale users login. Is this possible?

Best,
Vela

Yes. Your login will set a session variable.

If you have SecurityAssist you can use the conditional region to show one price if they are logged in as members and another if they are not.

You would have to probably add a column to the cart and store both prices... that way you could change prices after they add to cart if they log in later. Then you could add a calculation or rule depending on how you want to display the discount to the user.
