CMS with H1, H2 etc tags

Hi for some reason with Power CMS all of a sudden when I apply a format of Heading 1 etc the line spacing goes massive unless I go into the source and change it from:

<h1><span class="whatever">Title</span></h1> to
<h1 p class="whatever">Title</p></h1>

Have I changed something by mistake as this is ok for me but my clients won't have a clue (nor should they have to have)

See Attached screen Grabs - Thanks Alistair

this is not vaid markup:
<h1 p class="whatever">Title</p></h1>

valid markup would be:L
<h1><p class="whatever">Title</p></h1>

it sounds to me like the issue is in the style definition for the whatever class being applied to the span.

what if it's just a plan h1 tag:
<h1>Title</h1>

with no styling applied, does that look better, if so look int the setting for the whatever class.

Hi Jason if I just use <h123456></h123456> it is ok, but if I use my stylesheet which I have brought into the HTML Editor it dosent so I checked my css style sheet and kept stripping out until I was left with:

.text12 {
font-family: "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
font-size:12px;
}

But still no Joy (see attached) also if I go to contents insert and update page to add my style sheet that way I get this error:

Error trying to upgrade preset:
SyntaxError: syntax error

If i click ok I can get to the HTML Editor
Just to let you know I have just upgraded to version 3 dont know if that helps

Ok, I downloaded your site files, but you will need to provide some direction on where I should be looking for the problem.

What page are you outputting the CMS content where you are seeing the issue?

I cant reproduce the issue by just applying the h1 tag to data you already have, I was asking for a way to see what you have already done so I could see the issue.

On what page are you seeing the issue? I need to see what you have done that may be causing the issue.
