Result page in frontend part

Following a forum tread on what is the necessary pages in DA for the frontend (public layout) of products table, I did the results and search pages only. The results pages gave me the products I had inputed but none of them are linked. The products don't open up to its own page.

Next I created the categories table after the products table. I did for the public layout the results and search pages only. Then I got the following message "The bindings for your result page are at their default only placeholder data will be displayed click ok to continue or click cancel to set values .." I have set default values and I have set item name as Category Name but when I look at either of them the Item Name stays as Item Name. There is no change. What am I doing wrong. And also the categories don't appear.

Thanks in advance for your help

Serge

the results page wont link to a detail page unless you select the option to create the detail page as well.

For the most part, you use categories to trigger which products to display, in most cases you would not use the categories table on a public results page, the categories table is usually used in a menu where the user can select the categories of products to display.
