Administrative vs Public

Hi!

When starting the DataAssist wizard, in order to keep the Backend and Frontend of the website separate do I need to create an Admin folder in which all the Administrative tables would be located.

If one uses DataAssist to create a products table with an Administrative layout how does the public see the products. What is the next step so the public can see the products which I have inputed in the backend?

Thanks.

Hi serge,

You could use the features of Security Assist to password protect your administrative files. You could also assign different levels of login security if you have a main admin and some assistant admins.

WebAssist has some really good extensions for this.

Thanks Brad, that is great advice.

Adding to what Brad has pointed out, it really does not matter how you separate your front end and the admin as long as you protect your admin files with a special log in rule. It is always recommended to place your admin files under an admin folder and set up a log in page in order to access those pages.

Thanks Brad and Dani, What you said makes sense.

I've got a question though. Since I'm using Site Sculptor, can I use the CMS feature as a security devise for the backend setting?

No the CMS section of Site Sculptor is not intended to store site settings in this way.
