Auth.net Rejects Transaction

This is an live PS3 store that has been working properly. My client called to say that a customer attempted a purchase, only to be rejected. The client tried too and got the follow message (from error detection code that I left in place).

Auth Net:

By the way, I just tried to make a purchase transaction of a different product with my visa and it went through fine. Any ideas what triggered the above message?

Thanks,
Robert

the error coming back is:
This transaction has been declined

this usually means that the the credit card number was declined for the transaction amount.

Is there a way to create a rejection notice for an invalid credit card that is more user friendly to the customer? If I remove the error code information that you see (that they saw), what will the customer see in the form of a rejection message?

Thanks,
Robert

the default failure message is:

We're sorry
Your transaction could not be completed. Either your credit card information or billing address has problems and cannot be processed
Please return to checkout and try again.

You could add the response reason text to this if you like.

On the failure page, go to the bindings panel, click the plus button and select eCart -> checkout -> Local Checkout response. from the list of gateways, select Authorize.net AIM

this will add a local checkout binding group. You can add the response reason text to the failure page to give the reason for the failure.

I commented out the error detection code and the transaction failure page read as it should when bad credit card information was entered. I did not need to make any further edits to the code.

Thanks,
Robert
