Dreamweaver shuts down

Dreamweaver shuts down

Hi there
We are running CS5 on Mac and CS4 on PC, and WA Cookies 2.1

When trying to add a Cookie Dreamweaver shuts down on the PC. The other extensions work fine. I have reinstalled and renamed the Configuration Folder. I haven't used the Cookies extension before and therefore have not inserted the serial no. I don't know if this is the problem, however it doesn't give me the option.

On the mac I get the following error:
While executing onLoad in WA Cookie 1Object.htm, the following JavaScript error occured:
At line 40 of file "Macintosh
HD:Users:petercarr:Library:Application
Support:Adobe:Dreamweaver CS5:Configuration:shared:webassist:Cookies:
WACookies.js":
WACookies_Carbon.checkSerial is not a function

The help documents on the PC and Mac don't function.

Thanks
Peter

Cookies toolkit 2.1 is not compatible with Dreamweaver CS4 Or Dreamweaver CS5.

I believe the last version of Dreamweaver that Cookies Toolkit v2 was compatible with would have been Dreamweaver MX2004 or 8. To use cookies toolkit in Dreamweaver CS4 or CS5, you would need to purchase an upgrade to Cookies Toolkit version 3, Contact our sales department at sales[at]webassist[dot]com for details.

Ok, will purchase the new ones, and give it a bash.
Thanks

Purchased new toolkit, and form is working. However the tutorials are a bit lacking. Are there any more in depth ones or even other examples. Video tutorials would be good.

neilo

Have you looked at the interactive tutorials under 'Solution Recipes' Here?

The form was initially working until the client requested some refinement. I have been through all the tutorials 3 or 4 times, however they do not provide the answer.

If you have a look at the following page, it will give you an idea of what I'm trying to do, nothing complicated.
contact.php

Unfortunately, I cannot use the 'Store entire form in cookie' behaviour, as this also remembers the 'code' that is inserted. Where the complication seems to come in, is that the form is within a template, so I cannot select a "body" tag, to apply the behaviour 'Set entire form from cookie' OnLoad. I have to use OnClick or something similar and that immediately re-inserts the incorrect code that was stored in the cookie when you press 'submit', and therefore automatically fails.

At the moment there is only a Server Validation in place (Like Entry), and redirects to another page if the code is incorrect.

Is there any way of remembering only the first 6 elements of the form and carrying that over to the 'failed' page. Or does this require a completely different solution.

For what you are trying to accomplish, you only need validation toolkit.

Leave the validation failure blank.

Validation Toolkit creates a validated Entries collection in the bindings panel;, the validated entries collection contains all of the correct information posted by the form on validation failure. For each form element, click the lightning bolt next to initial value, and select the corresponding validated entries binding.

Ok, thanks.

I haven't been able to get the 'Validation Show If' server behaviour to work. I've tried normal text, an image and text in a layer for the error message. When you view the page, the error message is not hidden (text, image or layer). I've set the layers visibility to hidden but it also doesn't show when submitted.

I have however solved it for now, by re-inserting a redirect to a failed page and then just binding the elements to the first page.

Thanks
Peter

keep in mind when testing validation toolkit that the validation show if is triggered from a session variable. That session variable is not cleared until either 1) The form is posted successfully or 2) The browser is closed.

when testing the validation show if, start with a fresh browsing session to see if the error is showing.
