IE6 Dropdowns Disappearing Background List Bug

I'm using CSS Writer to create some menus:

PMHBETA

These menu work in every browser except IE6

When I check for Browser Compatibility in Dreamweaver I get this message:

Disappearing Background List Bug:
When list items have background colors or images, and the list is placed within a floated, relatively-positioned container, the backgrounds may not render as specified.

Affects: Internet Explorer 6.0
Likelihood: Likely

Does anyone have a fix for this? I also tried starting from scratch here:
index.html

Same issue in IE6 and now IE7 - JC

Menu writer fixes this problem with conditional css and client side javascript. The page you linked was not built with menu writer so it would be difficult for me to debug.
