Cart Object

This is what happens. I click on
Insert >> Webassist >> ecart >> ecart Object
a window pops up that has a button that says "Add"
I click on "Add"
I set up the ecart object and click "Ok"
I'm assuming this is supposed to add an ecart object, but nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong? why can't I add an ecart object?

you wont actually see the eCart object on your page.
after creating the eCart object, you will need to add the Add to Cart buttons to your page, and create the cart display page.

see the eCart getting started guide for more details:
ecart_gsg.php

When I click...
Insert >> WebAssist >> eCart >> then anything other than "eCart Object"
...it says that I have no object carts available for this site. I supposedly added the cart correctly, right?

I went here and it did not tell me anything new. Is there any way you can give me specific instructions yourself? I don't know why the eCart Object can't be made.

It sounds like a problem with your site configuration. You need to make sure to define a site in Dreamweaver and open a saved page from that site before creating a cart object.

From your description it would appear you didn't set up the site in dreamweaver properly.
