History Delete Issue

Hello,

I have been trying to purge some of my history in from past entries under HomePage>Site Message Area.

I began to delete some of the old content one at a time, it was working fine, and on the next try to delete the history, the screen went transperent black, where I could still see the content underneath (see attahed jpg); also, the page puts up a error sign at bottom left.

Its not locking up and I can still back out of it but I can't delete.

All of my other content that I tried to delete from past entries worked fine, its just this area under HomePage>site message.

The site works fine, but I would like to have this function properly.

Thanks for any assistance.

this particular content region seams to be causing a javascript error for some reason, try again in Fire Fox, it is less susceptible to breaking on JS errors.

you may need to delete the problem content area directly in the database.

Hello Jason,

So I went to the end of the history files and began to delete from the last entry and the delete function was working fine, until I hit what appears to be glich (see attached jpg). I hadnt hit the delete "link" yet but it shows as ready to delete and when you hit the delete button, it sends you back to the top with no action taken. If I try to delete any of the history above (or later date) it gives me the transparent black and locks up as before.

Where can I go into the code and delete the rest of the history and see if the delete funtion will work properly again for this section ?

delete the content manually in the database.

cms content is located in the PowerStore database, look in the ps4_contenthistory and ps4_content tables.

So by removing anything in the database it only deletes information tha was stored there, correct.

That would not effect the code in anyway would it.

in otherwords, would i damage anthing if I deleted a file other than having to replace it with new information?
