Now have ecart4.5.2 - should I upgrade to ecart5?

Now have ecart4.5.2 - should I upgrade to ecart5?

I currently have ecart version 4.5.2 and have several sites developed with it. I have had no problems at all with this version; everything works great.

I am starting a site with a cart which will have options and the options will affect the price (not used that before)
I have started reading the product options with eCart and downloaded and installed the WebAssist Free eCommerce MySQL database.

My question is before I get into developing the cart for this site, what reason would I want to upgrade to ecart5?
If I did upgrade, would it have any affect on the previous carts, if I have to edit the cart object on the previous carts?

thanks,
Jim Balthrop

Dealing with Product options in eCart 4 will be the same as in eCart 5.

eCart 5 offers a couple more features like the checkout wizard creating the orders and order details tables for you if you choose, but if eCart 4 is working without a problem, it is not an imperative upgrade. it is up to your discretion.

if you choose to upgrade, you will still be able to manage PHP carts created in eCart 4 using eCart. If you have carts in other languages though, ecart 5 will not work with them.
