DataAssist Crashes when going to second screen

Every time I open DataAssist and click continue to go to the second screen Dreamweaver freezes and becomes non responsive. Any suggestions on what I can do? I'm using DW-CS3

are you using a local or remote testing server?

if you are using a remote testing server trey using a local one instead, see the learning resources page for details on installing a local testing server:

I'm using remote and I've tried it on at least 2 different servers using separate providers and get the same problem or either. It only seems to freeze on the Wizard everything else appears to work fine.

try using a local testing server instead of a remote server, this is a suggested workflow for developing dynamic sites.

I've been using the wizard remotely for years. Even if I did switch to locally the problem with the wizard remotely would still be there so something else is the problem since it worked one day then the next it didn't. I am also having a problem with Universal Email 4 when I try to add or edit the text of the email. Since they both started at the same time it appears there probably is some type of corrupted file that appears to be affecting the extensions. I've uninstalled and started to reinstall but the problem persists.

Try renaming the configuration folder, the common installation problems pdf will help you find the configuration folder:
common_installation_issues.pdf

once renamed, open the extension manager, uninstall all the extensions, then install again.

Tried that. Dreamweaver still freezes on page 2 of the DataAssist Wizard.

Data Assist crashes after first screen

Sometimes works completely, sometimes stops after other steps in DA wizard. I am using Using DW-CS4, Vista 32, remote testing server and have for years with no problems.
Usually stops just after File Activity – [testing server] window appears. File Activity window is empty.
Have tried removing DW dat file, uninstall and reinstall DA, restart, shut down but no solution so far.

it really is a better approach to use a local testing server, not a remote one.

Dreamweaver often has mixed results when connecting to a remote server.
