Tax Exempt value

Tax Exempt value

Here is a line of code from my ecart confirm.php page:

<input type="hidden" name="taxexempt" id="taxexempt" value="false" />

I would like to know where it comes from and whether it's necessary. It was causing a problem with a tax rule I set for charging 6% to PA customers. First Data Linkpoint error said something like: "tax exempt sale can't have a value in the tax field." This was a PA purchase and the tax was calculated correctly but sale was declined because it assumed a tax exempt status.

I deleted the the taxexempt hidden field and it seems to work. Can anyone shed light?

Thanks!

tax exempt is an optional field to pass to the linkpoint server.

It is really only needed if the tax exempt status for the order is true.

if you remove the form element, the tax exempt status will be set to false by default.
