How do I change form labels for clarity in PS4.01?

I wish to change the form labels on the checkout page for clarity. When I ran them by my 72 year old mom, she had some troubles, but they were the same troubles others had, also.

I want to put red asterisks by required fields (She struggled to supply a fax number.)
I also want to indicate the desired format for the validation: 2 digit month, 4 digit year, etc. It is very frustrating for people to get it wrong and have to do parts over, so I want to help them get it right the first time. (Take note!)

How do I go about making these textual changes? Which file? It's not checkout.php. I can do the html of it, etc, but I can't even get started on it as I can't find the correct file. (Perhaps the solutions should come with a map or overview of its inner workings- especially since I hope to make similar carts using your other products and got PS not only to do a job, but also to use as a road map of sorts.

Clues on how to trace the php files to the necessary file would be a bonus.

I have ALL of your other products, so if you want to take that approach to making these changes, so be it, but I need the 20 minute solution. I have not put PS4 into a testing server situation or set up site management in Dreamweaver -- yet.

BTW, I feel the clarity I seek should be part of the finished product.

Thanks in advance,
Eric Conover

I solved this, but I'm leaving it up to help others

I found that the \webassist\plugins\shopping_cart\checkout_form.php was rather easily worked on in Dreamweaver to update the labels.

I also removed the states, terratories, islands and countries I didn't want here, and all was well.

Lastly, the asterisk I added caused a line wrap, and I found that the cms file default_form.css contained a rule .publicForm LABEL; there I increased the width, and that worked. I didn't increase it by much or it might have played havoc elsewhere.
