Individual postage for individual shop items

Individual postage for individual shop items

Has anyone found a way to add individual item postage charges to the shopping cart?
(UK users!)

This facility should be PRIMARY to any shopping cart facility but is conspicuous by its absence on Powerstore 3 / 4. It should have a facility for postage to be added at product item entry level, which appears on the check out page as an individual item.

I accept that if you are a US user with UPS etc then this works that way, but surely a free-format postage field at item level is not beyond possibility?

Any answers anyone?

This is not available ion PowerStore 3, but was added to PowerStore 4.

When adding a product to the catalog, go to the Additional Settings Tag. There is a shipping / handling input here for item level shipping charges.

Powerstore 3 / 4 postage

Thanks Jason,

If I purchased Powerstore 4 would installing it affect the database already created for my client's products using powerstore 3?

you have 2 ways to go:

1) Create a whole new database for PowerStore 4

2) Use the Same Database, the existing PowerStore 3 tables will not be effected, and the product information will be imported to the power store 4 tables.

PowerStore 4 postage

Jason,

Excellent! I've now bought PS4 and upgraded my client's shop. The integration with the PS3 database was seamless and has worked very well.

A couple of things though....please advise anyone doing this to ensure that they backup all their files first. The images file obviously transfers empty so will overwrite the existing file. You can then upload the images from the old file and all works fine.

One (hopefully!) last question! If a customer buys more than one product, does more than one postage cost go to checkout? It's just that we only want to charge the one postage cost, that being for the highest postage charged item.

Any advice in that direction most appreciated...and thanks for all your help which was greatly appreciated!

No the postage cost will be a sum of each items postage, power store does not a facility for only using the highest postage cost, this is not a supported feature.

What about if we wanted a two tier system where all items postage was set as 5.50 in settings, but some heavier items postage was required to be 9.50? Could we add the 4.00 difference into the individual items and would that be added to the 5.50?

Yes, that would work.

Ray & Jason,

Many thanks for all your help!
This problem solved, although the odd one or two more are coming up.
I'll scan the forum first though!

Many thanks,

Sid
