Making Changes to the center About Store Pod

I have looked for some help on your forum to find out how to install a "read more" link for the "About Our Store" pod in the center of the default template for Powerstore 4. Such as in the "News" pods.

Is there a simple way to do this?

Perhaps you can point me to a help file or document that explains it.

Thanks

you can insert a link using the link icon (World with a chain under it).

Click the link icon in the tool bar to create a link.

Creating the link

Hello Jason,

I see the ability to create a link and have played with it. Forgive my ignorance, being the newbie that I am, but link to what? I don't see an option to create a new page to link to other than the news pods and footer.

I don't have enough PHP hard coding experience to insert a slidebar for the viewer to scoll down to see more content if that were an option.

I thought the next best option would be to have a page that a "read more hyperlink" would go to like in the News section.

The pod is too smalll to put much of anything in it but a graphic and a little copy.

I would appreciate your bearing with me and giving me some more help on this.

Thanks

Power Store does give a way of creating a new page from a template.

In the content list, select the Custom Pages Template, and click the plus button to create the new page.

you will have a new page with 2 content areas; Content and Header.

this new page will be added to the main navigation under the support menu, visit the page under the support menu to see the URL to use in your link.

Adding Pages

thanks for your quick reply. Following your instructions and before I do this, please answer the questions below for me.

1. Are all pages that I add using this process limited to being put under the Support Menu drop down?
2. Is their a simple way to put them in as a sub-menu under another menu such as "Home" or in this case a seperate menu item on the naviagation bar like "About Us" as an example?
3. Also once a custom page has been created, is there a simple way to delete a page from the site once it has been created in this fashion?

I have honestly read everything in the documents available for this site and have viewed all of the tutorial videos several times before posting my questions on the board.

I have already spent a great deal of time customizing this site and for fear of making a mistake by experimenting with a function and having no recourse for correcting it, it makes me reluctant to make a change or add using the functions that are available.

Sorry for bombarding you with the questions, but would really appreciate you clearing the air for me.

Thanks!

Questions

Please disregard the questions above with one exception.

I find that I can change the menu on the navigation bar from Support to "Main Menu" and add additional pages as sub-menus underneath and can delete them if I choose to do so.

The remaining question is, can additional seperate menu items be added to the navigation bar other than customizing this one or am I limited to using this one only for adding pages and having them appear as sub-menus?

Only that one menu item is set up to add pages as sub menu items.

Thanks

I have made the additions and find that this flexibility will work just fine for what I need.

I think that the ability to add a seperate menu would be a nice feature to add on your next update if it is possible within the bounds of the coding for the Power Store. I will enter it as a suggestion to consider.

Thanks for your help!

There is much content to add, but here is the test site in it's present state, should you have the time to look at it:
