No results after install and register

Hi,

I have a site with Search for BOSS and the mechanics all seem to work fine but it never returns any results despite using very obvious terms to search for.

I have built and rebuilt the search pieces to be sure I wasn't missing anything and activated an indexing of the site with Yahoo.

Am I missing something?

www.countyharvest.org

The site is above. Any help greatly appreciated!

- Roland

the yahoo search engine has not indexed your site yet.

go to yahoo.com and enter the following search:
site:www.countyharvest.org harvest

this does not return any results.

Odd - I've been to the Yahoo site and gone through various ways to index and register it. I added the code to a page and a file to the root and each time it said it saw the site.

Where am I supposed to go to index it?

The indexing doesn't happen instantaneously, you may need to give a little time for the yahoo spiders to crawl your site and index it.

if you are still having problems in a couple of days, you should contact yahoo.

similar issue here

Jason, I'm having the same issue mentioned above, but I'm pretty sure my client's site is indexed with Yahoo. If I try searching the following at Yahoo.com “site:www.positiveid-bt.com projects” (or using any other keyword found throughout the site) I do get search results from Yahoo (see attached). But the search field on the site itself only returns 1 search result that takes you to the index page. I've also submitted and authenticated the site through Yahoo's Site Explorer and for the past couple of months it only shows 2 -3 pages as being indexed. One week it says 2, then another week it will say 3. It fluctuates for some reason, but never goes beyond three pages. So, I'm confused... is the site indexed or not.

I've also done a test where I changed the $search_BOSS_domain in the results.php page to a value like www.amazon.com. It works flawlessly - you get 1000+ results searching for a keyword like “books.” so I'm reluctant to think that the php code is faulty.

Im not sure if this makes a difference, but I have the search field implemented as a php include using Framework Builder. It doesn't seem to interfere though since my test using amazon.com works.

How long ago was your domain indexed?

It seems that Yahoo is in a transition period right now, they are transitioning to using the BING indexing servers. When you perform a search at Yahoo.com, it is using the BING Index servers. however, the BOSS API is still using the Yahoo.com indexing servers.

When you sign up to have your site indexed at Yahoo.com, it is being indexed by Bing, so the results cannot be returned by the BOSS API.

They are going to changing this in the BOSS V2 API which is slated to be released this quarter, we will put out an update the the BOSS extension once the V2 API is finalized.

The domain was indexed a while ago - while designing the current site, I had a placeholder page in place for a good amount of time. I see what you're saying - guess we'll just have to wait until the V2 API is finalized. Thanks for the insight.

I dont know when the transition period started, it may have been the summer of last year, but I'm pretty sure that your site is indexed by BING and not yahoo which causing the results you are seeing in BOSS
