Does Data Assist work with Go Daddy Hosting

Hi,

I can not successfully "define" a database connection (PHP server model) while running the Data Assist wizard. It says "an unidentified error has occurred." Seems it isn't connecting or find the table (though I thought the program is supposed to create the tables.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. paul

Many people have been able to use Dreamweaver with goDaddy. WebAssist uses the standard Dreamweaver connection, so if you can set up a connection in Dreamweaver that connection will work with DataAssist.

Can't get MySQL connection to work in wizard

Hi Ray,

I can connect regular files using Dreamweaver using the site's FTP function.

However, the Data Assist wizard does not work. I've tried everything (nearly). I've enabled the Go Daddy database's SSH. But I still get an "unexpected error" message.

Maybe spoon feed me the info with examples:

Connection Name =
MySQL server =
User name = (this one is confusing, is it the name to the go daddy account or to the database?)
Password = I know this
Database =

Also, do you need to set up the table before using this wizard or does the wizard help you create the table and the fields?

Thanks again -- I'm hoping to make this work.

Paul

Open up a .php page or create a new one.

Then go to the Server Behaviors window and click the plus button.

Choose Recordset.

This will bring you to the DW Recordset that connects to a database. Work through getting that to work and then DataAssist will work.

This is a general problem with your Database configuration or site definition outside of the webassist tool. By approaching it through Adobe's documentation you will find a lot more resources and tutorials on how to get a recordset working and how to get a database connection working in that context.
