Text has missing characters in text description

Hello,

I've build a couple of pages that have been missing apostrophes, hyphens, accents etc. Not quite sure why this is happening. All of the data is being feed dynamically from a database - and all of the characters are present in the spreadsheet and MySQL files.

I've attached a screen print of a paragraph that has this problem.

Thanks

Erick

Erick,

This is typically a result of either your page or your database column having the wrong character set (charset) encoding or in the case of the webpage, no encoding declaration whatsoever.

Make sure at the top of you page, after your opening head tag, you have encoding similar to this:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

Try that first... if that does not fix the issue, then it means the charset encoding on the database column is incorrect.

Best regards,

Brian

I took a look at the source code and did see that: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> is in place on my php pages, however I'm not sure where to locate this code on the database - i'm using Navicat.

Please advise

Thank you!

Erick

i don't have navicat installed, so cant really give a lot of direction,

I found the navicat documentation online here:
index.html

look under DataBase Object Management -> MySQL Database Object Management -> Tables -> Table designer -> Options -> Setting Table Properties.

It looks like there is a character set dropdown list on the table properties screen.
