Uploading to Dynamic folders

The file upload works great ...loving it.

But I have a case where literally hundreds of documents will be uploaded (not at once - over time) and right now they all go to the same folder. This can be an issue so is there a way to have the file upload dynamically create a folder based on the user ID (if there isn't one already) so all documents for that user go in a folder for that person and so on?

If it can, that would be amazing ....

Guess when I can't do something I should post it here. Never fails .. I answer my own question most of the time.

Yes! Dynamic folders can be created very easily! Nice job on this extension.

I wish Brad would write out his solution

Hello,

I've searched the forum and don't seem to be able to find the solution to my problem.

I've installed the Power Gallery, and created 1st gallery, which created the dynamic folder on the server.
I'm trying to create the page where I'll be able to upload multiple images into this gallery using Databridge (File Upload and Insert Record behaviors).

Everything is working fine except that I cannot get the page to upload the additional images into the same folder that was originally created by Power Gallery. The page I've created is attached.

Any advise would be highly appreciated.

Thank you,

Paul.

you should be using the power gallery admin pages to manage the gallery images for adding additional images.

Hi Jason,

Thank you so much for your quick reply.

The problem is - I'm setting it up for the customer. Therefore, there is a problem, since server upload (included in the Power Gallery Admin) does not allow for the multiple image upload, and does not protect the parent directories of my server, I want to create another page that will allow the multiple upload of the images into the server and database. Everything is working except the fact that I cannot find the way to upload to the same dynamically created folder.

If you can advise that would be highly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Best regards,

Paul.

you would need a recordset to lookup the gallery that they are editing from the pg1_galleries table

then use the folder name column from the recordset for the upload folder in the upload server behavior.

Hello Jason,

I'm sure you're busy with eCart 6 questions, but I need your help.

Here is the situation:

This is the same Power Gallery issue you've helped me in this thread. Now, I'm creating the Catalog Administration pages for the images in these galleries. I was able to create them. Also, I've updated the Recordset on the "Results" page to include the data from pg1_gallery_images table and the dynamic folder name from pg1_gallery table. What I cannot achieve is to show the images on the "Results" and "Details" pages from the dynamic folder created in the Power Gallery (even though the titles, descriptions, and other fields are showing fine). Please see the attached "Results" page.

Please advise at your earliest convenience.

Thank you in advance,

Paul.

you need to use a join query when trying to get data from 2 tables:

http://www.w3schools.com/sql/sql_join.asp

your _WADApg1_gallery_images recordset is not using a join query so will not be able top properly return related data
