PS3 Product Category Navigation

There is inconsistent behavior with respect to the menu (selected item) background color depending upon whether the product category is selected from the main horizontal (product category) drop down menu or the left side menu. What I would like to see is consistent focused color states, indicating the selected page is being viewed, whether the category is selected from the main horizontal drop down or the left side category navigation. I would like both to reflect the selected state, regardless of which navigation system was used to select the category.

This is what I observe now. I am using the site structure, styles, colors, etc., pretty much as-is.

1. If I select a product category from the left navigation the selected (focused) state background color changes on the navigation from the default gray to the default (hover/focused) blue, indicating to the site visitor what product category products are being viewed. If the same category is selected from the drop down, there is no indication on the left side which group is being viewed. How can I change the left side navigation styles (or javascript) to indicate the product category being viewed, whether selected from the horizontal drop down or the left side navigation?

2. If I select a particular product category from the horizontal drop down, and then return to the drop down again to select another category, I notice the original category name remains highlighted with the hover color, which is what it should do. If I then select a different category from the left side navigation, and then return to the drop down menu, the original category is still highlighted, even though a new category was selected from the left side. In other words, the drop down does not update unless another category is selected from the drop down.

Thanks,
Robert

This is a limitation to the way that the Spry Accordion panels used to create the left navigation works.

The focus change of the left menu is triggered through javascript that occurs on the onclick event.

I have logged a bug for this to see if there is something that can be done to address it in the future.
