FedEx Meter Number

Where and how do I get a FedEx Meter Number? My client has never heard of such a thing. There is only one reference to "FedEx" in this whole forum, which makes me nervous.

Log in to webassist, go to 'My downloads', select e-cart.
On that page, choose the e-cart shipping files accordian, and in there you will see how to get your meter number.

Hope that helps.

I'm having problems with this. I uploaded fedex_subscribe.php to my server, opened in firefox, filled out the form and submitted. I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /var/www/skullcrow/fedex_subscribe.php on line 28

Best as I can tell from the page below, is that you have to call fedex directly and ask for a test meter number until they verify that your page is working properly, then they provide a production meter number.

I have another question about this too... our company outsources production and shipping and we don't actually ship anything out from here. Will ecart allow us to set it up to JUST fetch shipping costs to display? All of our shipping costs are billed to us by our drop shipper so I don't think we really need to access our fedex account or supply a meter number for that. The checkout wizard doesn't appear to support this... unless I missed something.

This means that you don't have CURL enabled in your php.ini. You will need to enable it to work with most third party API's including shipping and payments.

Did this help? Tips are appreciated...

From what I've found CURL is enabled on most servers by default.

The fedex_subscribe.php file is BS.

You need to go to fedex and sign up for an account as a developer (lowest level) The Fedex docs do a great job of stepping you through getting a test meter number, and once your site is ready to go live, how to get a permanent meter number. This is the URL I use but I'm already signed up and cookied in...
