Collecting Names

Hi!

I want to collect names and emails form the U-Email contact form.

Do I need for that to create a database in MySQL Workbench?

You would need a database to store the information, wether that is built by workbench or phpMyAdmin or another way doesnt really matter.

To store the email information I would consider using the new logging feature thats mentioned in the Getting Started guide

Hi Daryl!

Thank you for the info. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't waisting my time on trying to create DB in MySQL.

I have tried the logging feature, but I get stuck. It ask for binding, so I used the lightening and choose contact me group name from binding but it didn't work then I choose the recordset rsName in Binding but it didn't seem to work.

Finally the database did get records but it gets the name of the field put not the contents of those field like people name, email and comments.

What am I doing wrong?

can you send a screen shot showing how you have configured the logging settings?

from the dynamic databindings, you should be selecting the form elements, not the recordset.

Hi Jason:

I created the database and contact form and established a database connection.
Then we went to binding to created recordsets for Name, Email and Comments. We created recordsets

and then we inserted the recordset into the contact form.

Please advise if we placed the recordset in the right place in the form and that we didn’t need to take any further sets.

Then we configured email logging, created the log for me, at my local testing server and it did create it this time. But we wanted the informated the Name, email address and comments and ID # and date. But in the generated email_log it puts a lot of information and we only want the information in the EmailBody.

If in email logging I do insert record it gives me the column, type and I put the value [Name] [email] and [comments] similar to the generated one but I get a error.

you do not any recordsets for this.

What i was asking for was a screen shot of you set up the logging tab of Universal Email, I need to see how the loggin is configured,

To store the information from the form, on the logging tab, when you click the lightning bolt for bindings, you should be choosing the corresponding Form element.

When I get to the email logging first of all I do not know what value to put for ID and for date.

2) When I choose as event on success only option and go all the way to finish, I get the following error message: While executing applyServerBehavior in CreateEmailMessage_WA.htm, a javaScript error occured.”

3) So we created a new database and email form and on email logging we choose again event: One Success Only but then we got a MySql Error #1064. Although there was nothing wrong with that table.

4) Then we changed the response to Create a log table for me. Then okay.

5) Filling up the form on the browser the database recorded the information. However on the EmailBody field there was alot of html code written.

Thanks,

Serge
