authentication

Having just switched to php I am having problems with universal email not sending email. I am using a shared windows server which doesnt have pear installed on it so I need to use php mail which doesnt include a SMTP Authentication so what can I do as windows servers need this. Are you going to do an update to include this? or can you tell me what code i need to add to what pages, thanks.

The php mail function does not support sending authentication. This is a limitation to the php mail function:
function.mail.php

most hosts will have an SMTP server that can be used for sending messages using the php mail function.

Who is your host, i may be able to find documentation form your hosting provider to help with this.

Having spoken to the support guys at fast2host, I have been told that that they wont allow any mail being sent without authentication on their servers for spam reasons.

the only way to send email using authentication in php is to use the PEAR Mail object. the PHP mail object does not support authentication.

Ok I have requested to have the site moved to one of their servers with Pear mail on.

Yes, using Pear will allow yo to pass the email through an SMTP server that requires authentication.
