Limit Page Views

I have a client that does not want visitors to access a certain page on their website more than 5 times. So far I haven't found a script that handles this specifically and I was wondering of a cookie could be used to limit the number of times a visitor could visit a specific page? If so, are there any step-by-step instructions somewhere?

a cookie could be used to limit page views, but keep in mind that a cookie is not permanent.

The cookie is stored on the client computer.

This means that the user could delete the cookie, then be able to access the page.

also, the user could use a different computer, or a different browser on the same computer, and access the page again. the cookie is not tied to the User, but rather the browser.

Really the only way you are going to be able to limit page views on the user level is if the user logs in to visit the page.

if the user is logged in, you can track in a page views table how many times they visit the page and lock them out after 5 times.
