Storing php code in a database

I'm storing the following php code in my database <?php echo date(Y); ?> to display the current year in a field called footer all the text shows up but the php script doesn't work. Is there something I need to do to the php code or database to make it display? I'm using mysql. Thanks.

you cannot store php code in your database.

this will not work.

Actually you can I just figured it out. Here is how you do it.

eval('?>' . $row_rsRecordset['field'] . '<?php ');
?>
