Lookup mySQL database password?

Hello,

I need to figure out the username and password for a database that I setup. Everything I have tried, has been wrong and I am just trying to setup the sitesculptor cms admin. So I am on step 2 of the install.

The host name is "localhost", database is "id1999_CMS" and i need this username and password. I have FTP access to all the files on the server.

Unfortunately you'll probably have to reinstall and not forget the username and password this time.

For secrurity reasons there is no way to get it without knowing it. Think of the security hole that would exist were it possible to simply look up a database password once you have lost it... it would kind of make the password useless in the first place.

Yeah that is what i figured...but I hoped since I have complete site access through ftp, that I could get it.

I need the mySQL database username and password for *_CMS since the website hasn't even been setup yet. So I don't have to delete the remote files right? Just create another mySQL username in cPanel.

That is correct.

You would only have to delete the Connections folder if you wanted to reinstall.

Hmm, I do not see a connections folder? Could this be why none of my normally used passwords failed?

No, the connections folder is only created once you give valid database connection information.
