Dreamweaver 8 Recipies

Hi
I thought I'd buy this book 'Dreamweaver 8 Recipies', to help develop a better understanding of dynamic sites; "work throught the tutorials, build a picture ect".
Trouble is working in the User Login tutorial, I cannot find the snippet, 'User-Login Wireframe'?
I know it is a random question.

While I don't have the book, my guess is that you will find that snippet either on an accompanying CD that would have come with the book or in the digital assets folder online at the publisher's website. Usually when there is no CD, the publisher lists a specific URL in the very beginning of the book where all the example and code used in the book can be found.

Regards,

Brian

Hi Brian
The CD-ROM accompanied the book.
How tonight I've read and looked again and again through page 51 in the book and around the CD-ROM. Just recently I found a Note Tab on Page 50.
'This recipe will not be accessible to Dreamweaver MX users with the PHP server model who do not have the authentication server behaviors installed. The authentication server behaviours were originally available on the Macromedia DevNet Resource kit (DRK), Volume 2 and later incorporated into Dreamwever MX 2004.
I'm off to post the next relevant Dreamweaver CS4 question on the Adobe forum.

This not does not apply to you since you are using Dreamweaver CS4. It only applies to users of Dreamweaver MX 2004.

the cd does not include the Recipes extension that will install the snippets. I have added the recipes extension to your download center.

Please bear in mind that this extension and book are quite old and we cannot offer support for them.

Hi Jason
Big thank you for the recipes file.
I've been working so much lately there was not time to reply.

recipes doc

I'm tacking on to this since it seems to apply.

I have the recipes but I can't find any documentation on them. Can you tell me where/if there is any? I don't have the book I downloaded them.

I know I saw some files in finder but no matter what or where I search in finder I can't find them. Of course I'm new to Apple so it may be 'user error'

Thanks
Sue

what was the name of the file you downloaded? Knowing this will help me determine where you should be looking.

Download

I actually have downloaded both the free paypal buttons and the latest version of eCart. I have configured the server and set up a PHP site and actually built a page which works on the server. However, when I got ready to upload to my hosting site and read through their doc on setting up for PHP I had some problems, no php ini to update. I called for support and was told that since I was hosted on Windows I couldn't update the ini. Not sure if tht meant I couldn't run PHP because that was kind of the last straw. I've taught myself CSS, Dreamweaver, and then PHP and the server and the learning curve was just getting too big. I don't need all the functionality of ecart and my database is Sage Peachtree and I'm not going to build a sql database so.. I backed off to the free PayPal buttons though I haven't tried to return ecart yet.

Sorry to give you such an earful I'm just really frustrated. I'm an old, I used punch cards, mainframer and there's a part of me that thinks I can do it all and I keep tripping over my lack of PC knowledge and the inability to find the right doc.

Ok, so I would like to find and use the recipes which I think downloaded with the Free PayPal extension. I have web assist snippits in my dreamweaver but they may be from ecart.

I would also like to know if I can update the paypal button from the properties screen. I read that I could but I don't get an edit field in properties when I click on the button.

Thanks
Sue

Ok, so you have the PayPal eCommerce Toolkit.

In the download center for the PayPal eCommerce Toolkit is a download for the PayPal eCommerce Toolkit Recipes. Install this MXP. Once installed, you can access the recipes from the help menu.

there is a newer extension for Paypal buttons:
payment-buttons-for-paypal/

this one allows you to edit the button from the properties screen, the eCommerce toolkit does not.
