Repeating similar product records

Repeating similar product records

I have 50 products with different graphics, but all have the same two options - size and colour. These have to be 'advanced' as there is a price difference between colours. What's the best way to repeat the two options for all 50 products, having set up options for the first product? Otherwise it's going to take forever adding new options for each product! Hope someone can help - thanks in advance.

there is no automated way to apply the options to all of the products.

They must be applied to each product manually.

What a waste of time creating identical options ;-)

Thanks Jason but that sounds a bit crazy to me - you mean I have to create separate options for size and colour for each one of 50 similar items. Just can't believe that - check out some of the other e-commerce solutions and you'll find a much better approach. I guess I'll have to try using simple options and see if that's any better?!

Same options for multiple items

Did you find any way to do this? I'm just about to load multiple items which come in three sizes / two colours. Logic says that multiple repeats of the same information in a database is very inefficient.

Product Options

No, I haven't found how to do this by the 'back door' and I haven't received any advice from WA either. I've been looking at the SQL table structure to see if I can step and repeat clusters of records (the tables involved are optiongroups, options, product options and products). I can see a pattern but without looking closely at the php code I can't guarantee to set everything up correctly. In my case, I have 5 sizes x 5 colours, for each of 30 products, so a total of 750 individual pages to set up. Absolutely ludicrous. I just wish the developers had some practical experience of real life [are you listening, WA?].
