Is there a possibility to ugrade ourselves and can webassist give some assistance with this update?

When moving from version 2 to version 3, the code base and implementation were completely changed, so there is no smooth way to update. Basically you would have to remove all of the fckeditor code in powercms and follow the instructions from ckeditor for how to install and use 3.2.1.
