Duplicate items within packages

Thread began 7/18/2010 4:04 pm by president310264 | Last modified 7/20/2010 11:27 am by president310264 | 1049 views | 4 replies |

Duplicate items within packages

I have a customer that sells items online and they sell items both individually and in packages. I know we can handle duplicate items within the bindings tab, but what if an end user put a package of items in their shopping cart and then selected an individual item that already exists within the previously chosen package. Is there a way to do something similar to the if in cart behavior on the bindings tab for this scenario?

Thanks,

~Clay

The 'if item in cart' functionality is only based on id of the current item, so this is not something that can be used to deal with this situation. What would you like to have occur if the user has a package of items then tries to add an individual item that is in that package?

You can use calculations to check for particular items, like the package, then do something based on this.

I figured out how to do it. I use a series of if statements that runs against the contents of the cart and responds appropriately.

Glad to hear that, if you are willing to get into the code there are a lot of very cool things that you can do with ecart. To any others that are interested in doing custom stuff like this in the cart if you have a look at the definition and cart file in the WA_eCart folder you will see the various eCart functions that you can make use of in your custom scripts.

That is exactly what I did. I utilized the function that is used to display the cart information and looped through that within my if statements
