Dreamweaver display corruption

Dreamweaver display corruption

Guys,

I was using CSS menu writer to put a 2 level menu on a site. I wanted to edit the menu tsoclicked on the script icon, went to the Property Inspector and opened CSS Menu Writer.

I made some changes and pressed finish. Dreamweaver froze, waited, and crashed. On opening it again my changes were lost but worse Dreamweaver does not now display my pages in design view using the CSS; ie i see the pages as if there was no CSS file despite the link being fine. If I display a page in a browser the page works fine.

I have deleted the .dat file as above, uninstalled and re installed the menu writer but still have the same issue. Last time this happened I had to re install Dreamweaver which I dont want to do.

Any ideas?

Ian

That is a strange issue indeed. You might be able to get things worked out by resetting your site cache or workspace within DW.

To reset the site cache go to Site > Advanced > Recreate Site Cache. To reset the workspace go to Window > Workspace Layout > Reset 'designer or coder'.

No luck

Eric, sorry but didnt do anything. The problem is also there with other sites within Dreamweaver.

When I open DW I get this message in the attachment. I think a file has become damaged . Like I said I have had this before!

Any ideas?

Solved

Eric,

After de installing all my Web assist add on which took hours the problem was still there. I went on Google and looked it up. it turns out the option View/Style Rendering/Display Styles had been turned off by the crash! Turned it on and all is fine. Ho hum.

Thanks anyway. Ian

Thank you for posting back on the solution that you found. I had a feeling that the issue was something like this but I have never had to reset this particular setting before. If you have any further problems with the crashing and it is consistent for you let us know and I will ensure that a ticket is opened up for you.

De install

Eric,

be useful for Web Assist software to de install from Dreamweaver a lot quicker, mine took all day and in the end wasnt required.

When I re install them I need to re install the Product code too which is another pain(get message, login to site, find right part of site, find the code, copy and paste etc x 10)

Fixing both of these would make WA software a lot more user friendly!

Thank you for the suggestions. When it comes to uninstalling the extensions there is a quicker way to do this. If you remove or rename the configuration folder first you can uninstall all of the extensions much quicker. Here is a link to steps that you can take to rename the configuration folder.

some people just get lucky

I have had the same problem as outlined in this thread.

After trying all possibilities
some of my own,
reinstalling the extension,
and following this threads sugestion..

It seemed to manifest itself when i tried to induldge a fantasy that i come create a dynamic menu structure now even the static menu that i have been manipulating for the past few has ceased to recompile anymore.

I have also included capture file.

i have come to the conclusion that your extension has serious flaws, no one solution seems to hold a permanent solution.

I might as well code everything raw as your products are giving me an ulcer.

please advise when this will be fixed
