Free shipping on a product to certain zones

Hi
Small puzzle I cannot seem to get around:

Situation:
Currently ecart setup with 3 different shipping "zones"
Certain products should have "free shipping" but not to all zones the zones are fine I have sorted on a session value.

Problem is I cannot use 0 weight as that would mean free to all zones so I need to enter a weight but how do I get ecart shipping to deduct that items weight from the shipping calculation is there a way to refrence the items weight if its flagged as a free shipping item?

Thanks

Mike

You could store the free shipping identifier in a new column in the cart, then within the loop for the shipping quote you could add in a check to skip that item if the column has a particular value.

This is definitely a custom approach but I think it would give you the result you are looking for.

I have similar situation. Some items in our cart will not have any shipping involved and even though I entered 0 for weight it still gets a quote from UPS ,

What do you mean drop in a check to skip an item here , could you elaborate?

"You could store the free shipping identifier in a new column in the cart, then within the loop for the shipping quote you could add in a check to skip that item if the column has a particular value"

the loop you mean in the page where the item has the add to cart button? or in the shipping rules for the cart?

thanks !

**We need to solve this today. A separate cart for items without shipping configuration would be a 'fast' solution but not practical for a customer to have to go thru 2 different and separate checkouts.

all you really need to do is set the weight for items that should not be included in the shipping quote, and make sure that the UPS Shipping behavior on the confirm page does not have a failed redirect set.
