displaying more options on the cart

I have options that i want to add to a product, but I only want them to appear to certain customers. For example special members will be able to add a custom name or saying to a product. What i have done is added these options in the product details page in an if statement so only the select customers will see them. My only problem is that I need this information to be displayed on the shopping cart along with normal options. I tried to look at the WA_Store_Cart_PHP and WA_eCart_Definition_PHP files and send the information through there but I am having no luck. Is there any code i could add or an easier way of doing this. I need to to add four fields but one is not going to be visible to the customer.
Thanks.

This type of edit for the PowerStore is not supported and will take some custom editing to get worked out properly. In order to see the values in the cart you will need to add additional cart columns to your cart. Once you have them you can modify the add to cart server behavior to set the new options to these new columns.

You would then need to update the cart display manager on the cart page. You would at the least need to drag and drop the new columns bindings onto the cart display where you would like to see them.

After all of this you would need to ensure that you update the confirm pages. You will need to add new columns to your oder details table to hold the new values. Then you will need to update the store order details server behavior to associate the newly created columns with their corresponding data. On the confirm and checkout success pages you will need to update the cart displays to include the new information. If you want this information to be seen in the email receipt you will need to modify this as well to include the new details.
