How to create individual shipping rules?

How to create individual shipping rules?

Dear Friends,

I have a static cart setup (no database) with about 10 items. The client is doing his own shipping (no API required at this point), using the U.S. Postal Service ("If it fits, it ships") system.

Some items weight 2 ounces, some 2 pounds. There's also a paper gift certificate. My question is: where in the process can I apply unique shipping costs to each individual item?

Apologies if this is something obvious that I overlooked in the guide, but on a hard deadline and any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Create a new column in the cart object for Shipcost

in the add to cart button add the set the Shipcost column to the codet for shipping that item

when creating the shipping rule, use the Based on column subtotal option is the calculation.

Thanks!

Thanks for your quick response, Jason! You're a lifesaver!

The shipping rule itself is created in the Checkout Wizard, correct?

Thanks again!!!

No, the shipping rule is created in the eCart object. on the shipping tab.
